Hello everyone! We first would like to thank each and every one of you for joining Common Rooms. It's been a crazy time getting everything together, but we're grateful you've all stuck around despite it. In this post, we are going to be discussing a lot so here's a cut tag to save you from the incoming text wall.

Create your own club! Comment below with a suggestion and see who responds to join, the most popular clubs will be created to play in game while the clubs that fail to gain more than one or two members will be taken off the list. Remember that clubs are meant to give your character new plots or reasons to interact with those they might not normally in game. While there is no fixed number of clubs allowed, if you see a club listed with only one member, please consider joining it before you make one of your own. Take advantage of this post to connect with your fellow players and get involved in creating! Also please note there's no obligation to join any club, and remember your character is only allowed two!

Due to the response of preferring to increase the age of students accepted into Hogwarts, we have come to a decision to increase the enrollment age. However, as previously discussed with increasing it from 14-21 years of age, we believed that to be too large of a jump. With this in mind, we would like to get the opinion of those who are already accepted and those who are still planning on applying. As it stands, there are three bracket choices.

Choice 1: Keep the ages as they are in canon, students aged 11-18.
Choice 2: Increase the age by one year, students aged 12-19.
Choice 3: Increase the age by two years, students aged 13-20.

  1     2     3
11-12 12-13 13-14
12-13 13-14 14-15
13-14 14-15 15-16
14-15 15-16 16-17
15-16 16-17 17-18
16-17 17-18 18-19
17-18 18-19 19-20

For this to be as accurate as possible, we ask for you to refrain from commenting anonymously on this post. Any anonymous comments will not be counted toward the official decision. Also, if you do not have a strong preference, we still ask for you to choose one of the three choices.

We greatly appreciate your patience while we weighed the sides concerning this and we hope to see more applications soon!

Have a message to a specific student, or group of students? Leave a comment here to have your letter delivered! These deliveries will occur twice a week, holidays depending.

Angry at someone? Why not embarrass them over breakfast with a howler? But, be warned, abusing this might get you one of your own from your parents or Head of House.

There are a variety of classes taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including both the core curriculum and electives, available from third year forward. In the fifth year, students take the Ordinary Wizarding Level (OWL) exams to determine whether they can achieve a score high enough to continue to NEWT-level classes for the remaining two years. NEWT classes may help students pursue higher career paths after their graduation. Some classes, including core ones, may be dropped in sixth year if needed. Students also have a choice to drop courses mid-semester if they become burdensome, with some repercussions.

Student timetables were graciously donated and are located here, as well as in the linked titles.

Please refer to the Claims & Holds before applying to insure your chosen face isn't taken. As this is a simple GPSL, don't worry too much about the length of your application. We would like people to develop characters in-game with the other players. This is simply a starting point. If you are unsure of which house your character is a best fit for, don't worry! Answer the questions and the Sorting Hat (read: mods) will help with placement, alternatively you may take this quiz.

To apply, copy and paste the code into your journal and fill it out, once you are finished post a link to it in a comment below. You'll know by the end of the day if you are accepted. If you plan on friends locking the entry, be sure to add [personal profile] headmasters before you apply.

Beginning in the 1970's, Voldemort garnered a large number of followers and supporters, the closest to him known as Death Eaters. Called the Years of Terror by those who experienced Voldemort's menacing and threatening influence, witches and wizards alike were afraid to become friendly with strangers without solid confirmation they were not supporters of the Dark Lord. These fears prevented much of the Wizarding World to feel safe, leaving Hogwarts as one of the few places to find solace.

With the game set in 1977, things like twitter and messenger will not be present. Due to this, AIM will be an optional contact used for out of character plotting/discussion as well as scening if needed. In game chatting will be conducted at a slightly slower pace by use of charmed journal entries and owls. The main community will be used for all threading and logs as well as community wide activities, while any in or out of character announcements will be posted by the mod in the mod journal.

As this is a simple GPSL, activity checks will be done via a bi-weekly post where players will either answer simple questions or comment as a form of checking in. These posts will be used as a place to discuss anything players would like to see happen in the upcoming weeks as well as share opinions involving the game. If there are any further questions, please do not hesitate to private message the moderator account or leave a message at the dropbox!
