Classes & Clubs

There are a variety of classes taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including both the core curriculum and electives, available from third year forward. In the fifth year, students take the Ordinary Wizarding Level (OWL) exams to determine whether they can achieve a score high enough to continue to NEWT-level classes for the remaining two years. NEWT classes may help students pursue higher career paths after their graduation. Some classes, including core ones, may be dropped in sixth year if needed. Students also have a choice to drop courses mid-semester if they become burdensome, with some repercussions.

Student timetables were graciously donated and are located here, as well as in the linked titles.

Core Classes
Extra-curricular Subjects (sign up!)
1-2 Years: Core (7) classes + flying (1).
3-4 Years: Core (5) + (2) electives.
5-7 Years: Core regular/newt (5) + (1-2) electives.
(The numbers in the parentheses mean the max of each category allowed. As a general rule, all later year students must take at least 4 classes, 5-7 is average, 8 is challenging, and above that is over-achievers only.)
*Please note that even though students cannot apply for Time Turners, a head of house may suggest one to an individual on very rare occasions.
