Hello everyone! We first would like to thank each and every one of you for joining Common Rooms. It's been a crazy time getting everything together, but we're grateful you've all stuck around despite it. In this post, we are going to be discussing a lot so here's a cut tag to save you from the incoming text wall.

Concerning the Age Shift

As per the entry posted a few days ago, we have come to a majority vote and have decided to make the age range at Hogwarts from 12-19 (bracket #2). This will be reiterated in the rules, along with the age range and appropriate age for each year lined out. We hope this will work with even those who chose otherwise and we thank you for participating.

The Community is Open!

Feel free to begin scening and threading as you please, over whichever platform you are comfortable with. As we are following the exact canon timeline of dates, the sorting ceremony will be skipped and we will be moving directly to the current date of about one month in. That being said, backlogging is encouraged! Our first community wide event will be for Halloween and is now being planned. To be sure everyone will have time to participate, we will be posting the ball on Wednesday, October 29th, allowing members to post both throughout the week and weekend. Please note that though it is encouraged, you are not obligated to get your starters in on the first day. Be assured that you may use the post for as long as needed.

New Things and Potential Things

Clubs & Student Involvement In case you missed it, there is now a post for student positions and now, we also have a club post too! We encourage any addition of new clubs brought up by students. Both official and "unofficial" clubs will be listed here and marked accordingly. Get creative! Class Schedules We've added two new classes! Geomancy (previously Earth Magic) and Suimancy (wandless magic). A thorough explanation can be found here in the class post. Please feel free to adjust your character's subjects accordingly if needed. Also, we have been donated an amazing class schedule that can be found here if you are interested in planning out your characters day. Quidditch The practicing timetable for the year can be found here. We are also in the process of creating a monthly calendar that will have events, along with any future quidditch matches. However until that is created, we'd like to let you know the first quidditch match will be Gryffindor versus Slytherin on Sunday, November 2nd leaving some time to scene practices. The Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw match will take place two weeks later on Sunday, November 16th. House Points In the next couple of days, we'll be putting a note in the rules & faq post about how different things will be rewarding your houses. This will include, but is not be limited to, logs and threads, participation in using the owlery for deliveries, along with finding hidden Easter eggs in mod posts and updates as well as in game events and happenings. Again, if there are any extra suggestions for these, we encourage you to leave a note in the dropbox or send a PM.

Extra Help!

Finding yourself wanting to do more for the community? Even with things dying down, we would love to have an extra set of hands helping deal with upkeep, ideas and maintaining the activity checks. If you'd like to help out in any way, please send us a PM! As mods, fun is our top and main priority here and we want to make sure everyone is involved and heard.
